My "baby" is 20 months old! Just 4 short months away from being 2!!! Where has the time gone? I've been asking myself that a lot lately. I think about the new baby coming and can't believe that just 2 years ago we were waiting for Kamie to arrive. Now she is so independent and not a baby at all anymore. She changes so much from week to week. Nate comes home on the weekend and always says, "When did she learn to do that?" She is learning something new ALL THE TIME!
Since I have not really documented much lately, this is going to be a long, boring post for most of you. Sorry!
At 20 months Kamie is...
talking nonstop! She is starting to repeat a lot of what we say. Most people cannot understand half of what she says, but I have a pretty good idea most of the time. She just recently started putting a couple of words together at a time. (Bye Mom, help please, etc) She still says all words that start with 's' as 'ice'. (sock, snack, out side, slide, apple sauce) Not sure when this will correct itself, but we are working on it.
quite the helper! She loves to help me sweep and mop. I recently realized that if I put a swiffer wipe on the end of her "boom" that she actually gets some cleaning done. :) She helps me feed Pixie everyday. She empties the dryer into the basket and pushes the wet clothes into the dryer. She puts all our shoes away. (in the correct closets) She helps load and unload the dishwasher. She also throws away any trash that is anywhere in the house.
trying to learn to use the potty! She LOVES to sit on her potty, but she refuses to pee pee in it. She sits on it almost every time I change her or have her diaper off, but if she starts to go in it, she freaks out. :) Any ideas on this would be great!
more independent than she has ever been! I guess this is a good thing, but it makes me realize just how big she is getting. She walks into the nursery at church without looking back. She even cried to go home with Nana and Poppy one night. She wants to walk everywhere instead of letting us carry her. (ie across the street) She has never really been one to go off and play by herself, but lately she has been doing this more. Again, I know this is good, but she is realizing that she doesn't NEED mom every second. *sigh*
loving to color, play with letters, and count things! One thing that we know will entertain K for a long time is crayons and a coloring book! She will color for awhile, but she loves to watch other people color. She is also getting pretty good with her letters. She doesn't say the correct letter, but she can tell you who/what the letter goes with. (N-Nana, P-Poppy, Papaw, Patsy, sometimes Pixie, M-Mommy, Mamaw, D-Daddy, G-Granny, C-Cory, J-Jackie, K-Kamie, E-Elmo, O, I) She has just recently started counting things. For awhile every number was 2. "2. 2, 2, 2" Now, she says, "2, 5 (hive), 2, 5" I have even heard her in her monitor when she wakes up counting something. :)
a little girly girl! She loves to have her purses/bags with her anywhere she goes. She loves bracelets and necklaces. The more bling the better! (Thanks Auntie Patsy!) She loves shoes. Right now flip flops are her favorite! She will sit and let us paint her toe nails. She loves to sit while I dry her hair after her bath. She could do this for about 20 min. easily! :) She enjoys picking out her own clothes and gets upset if I choose something different. She even opens the drawer and says, "umm" while she is looking. :)
very opinionated! Even though she can't tell us all her opinions yet, you can see it on her face (or in her actions)! She knows exactly what she wants to eat at every meal, and if it is not what is on her plate, Pixie might end up with a healthy snack. She knows what she wants to do and if it is not on our agenda, she might end up throwing a small fit. For example... Now that it is nice, she wants to be out all the time! I don't blame her, but sometimes a toddler HAS to take a nap. We usually have a fit every time it is time to come inside. She is getting better at this if we give her plenty of warning, but it is still a work in progress. She also has an opinion about where we will change her diaper, who sits where when we eat, what cup she wants to drink out of, etc. I love that she is developing her own opinion on things, but we really have to watch that she learns to accept when things do not go her way! I want her to be a leader, but I don't want her growing up to be the "bossy one" that no one wants to play with. :) Hopefully having a baby around the house in a few months will help this a little...we will see!
obsessed with her grandparents! This is such a wonderful thing! Kamie LOVES both sets of her grandparents and would die if she never got to see them. A day doesn't go by that she doesn't ask for each grandparent. Sometimes she will even ask for them as soon as she gets up in the morning. I hear her in the monitor saying each of their names, "Nana, Poppy, Mamaw, Papaw." We are fortunate enough to have Nana and Poppy about 20 min. away and Mamaw and Papaw about an hour away. Nana gets to watch K while I work 2 days a week. We go to church with Nana and Poppy and almost always have lunch with them on Sundays. We usally try to see Mamaw and Papaw at least once every other week. Since Nate has been gone all week, we have gone to their house to stay for a few days at a time. Kamie AND Mamaw and Papaw love this time together!! She is spoiled rotten, but it is ok! :) I hope she always has a close bond with her grandparents!
starting to understand that their is a baby in Mommy's tummy! This is very exciting for me to watch. She enjoys giving the baby kisses and always tells it "night night" when she goes to bed. I know she is going to be a wonderful big sister!! She also has a new obsession with babies. Whether they be real or dolls, she has to see what they are doing. We are trying to find as many "teaching moments" as possible when she is playing with her baby. She still throws it on the ground a lot, but at least she gives it a kiss after! :)
She is becoming such a big girl and we love her to death!! This age has been so much fun for me. She does wear me out, but I wouldn't change it for anything! She makes me laugh til I cry sometimes!! I can't wait to see what the next few months will bring! Love you Kamie Louise!!!
Here are some pictures of the last month!

Smelling flowers with Nana
Showing her independence by putting on the shorts of HER choice! Too bad both legs are in the same hole... :)
